✓First Yak-12m built in Poland
✓AI-14RA engine with 1317 hours on on-condition maintenance
✓Registration G-CLPH pending CAA completion
A 1956 Yakovlev Yak-12m, the first built in Poland, requiring registration completion with CAA. The aircraft has 4959 total airframe hours and needs paperwork completion for UK certification.
Maintenance
Key Issues
Three items have been raised that we are sure will need clarifying:
1. The Ai-14 engine is on-condition with around 1300hours. This was being run under the ULC(Polish CAA) Schedule 9. Schedule 9 is an on-condition maintenance program for AI-14RA engines that are over 1,000 hours. Effectively, the engine has an inspection every 12 months or 100hrs, with compression testing and oil samples sent away for analysis.
2. The wings are covered with Ceconite, but the fuselage is covered with Cottin. It is all in good condition, but we are told cotton is not allowed. but as it is only the fuselage, this may be okay.
3. Batteries, the batteries were deemed to be insufficient for the 40-minute requirement. We replaced these with the type used on the G-PFKD (The only Yak12m on a UK registration) But there seems to be a question about those as well.
