Rebuild overseen and supported on key structural tasks by Ernie J. Horsfall
The extensive 2008 to 2010 rebuild was supported on key structural elements by the highly respected Jodel specialist Ernie J. Horsfall. Although not formally licensed at the time, he was widely recognised by the British CAA and was repeatedly accepted by the Icelandic CAA for specialist repair approvals due to his exceptional experience. Throughout his lifetime he owned more than 70 aircraft, built three from scratch and rebuilt the majority of the others. He was also authorised to sign off homebuilt aircraft. His involvement adds notable heritage and craftsmanship credibility to this aircraft.
The rebuild required approximately 1,500 labour hours in the hangar and was carried out to a very high standard. Detailed photographic documentation is available.
The engine has been regularly lubricated and turned by hand during storage and the aircraft has always been kept in a heated hangar, helping preserve its mechanical condition.
All maintenance and airworthiness approvals over the years were carried out and signed off by a licensed A&P mechanic. Documentation is available for review.
